If you have kids present in your life, then you know they are apparently always hungry. Their metabolism is sky high with energy levels that adults simply do not remember. Part of it is the fact that their bodies are still growing and need steady fuel to supply cells with both energy for growth and building materials to accomplish it.
Whether you are raising your own kids, sometimes watch over relatives, or even just mind the kids of others, you have to keep them fed. It’s not just keeping them from being cranky, but also necessary for their health and wellness. Regardless, you don’t want to spend all your time cooking, and you probably can’t, given that you have to take care of yourself as much as you are taking care of them.
Preparing finger sandwiches in advance is a great thing to do. You really just usually need sliced bread, meat, cheese, and condiments, perhaps with some sliced veggies or leafy greens to put on them as well. Making an entire stack of them only takes a few minutes, and then you can cut them up into tiny pieces that make for great finger food for kids.
You can wrap up a plate or fill a closable container with them and they’ll keep in the fridge for days, depending on what you put on the sandwiches. Finger foods are the perfect size snack for a kid since you can give a child one and they don’t need to sit down or use a plate or anything, provided they don’t crumb up a room. Of course if they’re playing outside that might not be an issue.
In many cases one finger sandwich is enough for them to be full. You can always hand out another, or just add a beverage and a piece of fruit and chips for a small meal.
